What does it taste like?

Yes! Nutra Organics use premium plant-based flavours that are created using only natural processing methods such as heating, fermenting and pressing. There is nothing artificial in Choc Whiz.

Yes! The recipe does not contain any gluten-containing ingredients and Choc Whiz is manufactured and packed in a gluten-free environment.

I am a grown-up, can I have this product?

Anyone can have Nutra Organics' delicious and nutritious Choc Whiz. However, this product is specifically designed to meet the children's needs (between 1-3 years). But anyone older than 1 year of age can have this product, including adults. The only thing is that adults need a higher amount of nutrients when compared to young children.

Is it pregnancy and breastfeeding friendly?

In saying this, it is advised on all Nutra Organics products to seek advice from your health care professional on taking Nutra Organics products if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Every pregnancy is different, taking a toll differently on each individual body in vitamin, mineral and energy requirements. Is it vegan?

Unfortunately, Nutra Organics' Choc Whiz is not Vegan. Nutra Organics has added a very special ingredient to the formula that comes from fish: Omega 3 DHA! Omega 3 fatty acids are so important during the early stages of life and Nutra Organics wanted to be able to offer this to your loved ones.

Choc Whiz contains DHA extracted from fish. Does it taste or smell like fish?

Not a chance! Even though Nutra Organics have incorporated omega 3 DHA extracted from fish in this product, this special ingredient has been microencapsulated, which means that no kid or adult will be able to smell it or taste it.

What are Omega 3 Fatty Acids (DHA and EPA)? And why are they added?

Our body can make most of the fats it needs, but that isn't the case for omega 3 fatty acids. These are essential fat, which means that the body can't make them from scratch, so it must get them from food. There are 3 important fatty acids: alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). ALA is commonly found in most Western diets in plant oils such as flaxseed, soybean and canola oils and some nuts; while DHA and EPA come mainly from fish and other seafood (the reason why most people call them marine omegas).

Our body can convert ALA into EPA and DHA, but the conversion is sometimes very limited. That is why it is so important to consume foods or supplements that contain these two omegas.

Omega 3s are important for so many reasons, they are components of the membranes that surround each cell in your body; DHA is especially high in the retina (eye) and brain, so it is really important to incorporate this omega 3 into the early stages of life. Nutra Organics have added Omega 3 DHA and some EPA to this product for its brain-boosting capabilities.

Directions

Mix 2 teaspoons (6 g) into 250 mL of full cream milk or milk of your choice and enjoy hot or cold.

Alternatively, sprinkle on yoghurt, fruit or ice cream. Add to baking, smoothies, pancakes or just eat straight off the spoon!
